may become really annoying to cope with.

First thing that comes to mind is tighten the hinges, and it is truely genious! And to make things even better, this is a really easy to do step, but let's not run ahead of ourselfs.

As you know, I've been using Dell Latitude E6440 for some time now. And it has been really great so far. Solid, sturdy, good performance and almost anything-proofness convinced me it was a great purchase. From time to time Dell makes something wonderful 😉

However, some time ago the lid in my Dell Latitude E6440 began to wiggle and started to be generally loose. It got to the point that I couldn't simpy deal with it and wanted to take action. In a rage of annoyance I started taking my laptop apart. It was so stupid. There is no need disassemble the notebook. To tighten the lid only two steps are required. One is really easy, next one is "only" easy.

First and foremost, before taking any action with your notebook, really carefully study the service manual. Secondly, remember I take no responsibility whatsoever for any action you may or may not take upon reading this article.

All you have to do is to tighten screws holding the hinges. For the base, these are the far out screws on the back, visible in the photos below:

Tighten them carefully, and the lid should already be firmer.

If it is not enough, and the lid wiggles anyway, there is another thing you can try...

... the next step is only a little bit more difficult and requires you to remove the frame surrounding the screen itself. I did it using only a guitar pick.

After successful removal tighten three silver screws connecting the hinge and the lid, however be extremely careful not to over-tighten them!.

This solution shoud work with any Dell Latitude E64XX series notebook!

And voila, you're done! And it didn't require almost any disassembly.
